In an exploration reguarding the tools and methods necessary to make an object multipliable for production, I designed and built two identical step ladders, using the same hand-made jigs and measuring devices for each. The arching handle was made by bending, glueing, and clamping 17 thin layers of douglas fir wood into an arched mold. Once the glue was dried, the curve was entirely rigid. The front and back legs are attched to the handle with a complex 3-piece miter joint, providing the ladder with fantastic strength without any excess material or hardware.
